Heritage Open Days 2018 - Town Hall Tour
It was a very busy, successful day, despite all the barriers and road diversions surrounding the Town Hall, and the inclement weather.
We had visitors from different parts of the country and got very positive feedback from all those who took the tour of the building.
The deputy Mayor, Cllr Kath Rowson and Deputy Mayoress Joan Goldin was in attendance in the morning and the Mayor, Cllr Gary Coleman, and Mayoress, Debbie Coleman, greeted visitors in the afternoon. Visitors greatly appreciated their relaxed, friendly manner and being shown the Mayor's Parlour, photo below of a group led by our member John Garnham:

Heritage Open Days Tours of the Town Hall - 9th Sept 2017
As part of Heritage Open Days on the Fylde, Blackpool Civic Trust conducted tours for local schools on the Friday and ran tours for the public on Saturday.
Over one hundred members of the public, including visitors from London and Aberdeen, were shown around our splendid Town Hall. They clearly found the experience both enjoyable and instructive, judging by the very positive feedback we received.
Many thanks to our enthusiastic volunteers who made the two days so successful, with particular thanks to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for their valuable support.
Here's looking forward to next year!

Report from the Chairman of Blackpool Civic Trust, Joan Humble.
The Heritage Open Days event goes from strength to strength, with three new sites of historical interest being added in Blackpool this year, including the Grundy Art gallery (see photo below).
The Town Hall was just one of the many venues that proved popular with visitors. One hundred and seventy-six school pupils visited on Friday and were given a conducted tour by the Deputy Mayor and members of the Civic Trust. In an email of thanks to the Trust, St Kentigern's School? (see photo below) thought that the visit had been especially valuable in promoting citizenship and strengthening links with our 'culturally rich town'. On the Saturday morning Civic Trust members were joined by the Mayor to guide 37 visitors around the Town Hall, including one visitor from the Czech Republic. Clearly word is getting out!
Another welcome addition to the Heritage Open Days was a special Heritage service led by Canon Andrew Sage, our Faith Buildings officer, at St Stephen on the Cliffs. Lessons were read by the Deputy Mayor and myself.? I very much hope that the service will become an established part of the Open Days.
My thanks for this most successful event go to Kelly Walker and her colleagues at the Volunteer Centre, who collated the brochure and publicised the Open Days, together with the many people involved in greeting visitors in the varied venues across the town. My special thanks go to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Blackpool and members of the Civic Trust who helped in many different ways.
Joan Humble, Chairman.

Fleetwood Museum has smartened up its cafe, and in pride of place is the stained glass window from Fleetwood Grammar School.
St Peter's Church in the heart of Fleetwood has spent over a ?1million on a facelift including several new and stylish stained glass windows.
The White Church at Ansdell is a United Reformed Church and welcomed visitors. The interior of the church is square inside and has a comfortable feel even though it reflects the simplicity of the United Reformed Church's tradition.
